Updates

  • We have officially launched our newest robotic material handling line for our microchannel cutting lines. Check out the raw footage of some of the two cells that we created for this application. If you have customers asking for more throughput, this could be the answer! Both cells were in final debug, so some guarding and final panels are not in place. https://lnkd.in/gDscZjc6

  • Toledo Technology Academy is one of the most interesting schools around NW Ohio. The thing that separates TTA from other trade schools and career tech programs is the laser focus they have on technology in addition to trades within manufacturing. We had the opportunity to host two tours for about 50 students total. We showed them around our facility and even found a handful of students interested in summer internships with us!

  • Jack got the opportunity to head out to Capitol Hill with CIFT/Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) this past week to discuss the benefits of the MEP program with our Ohio Senators and House members. Dave Cole, from Willy’s Salsa, an awesome salsa company headquartered in Toledo, also traveled from the 419. We met with several different groups including staff from Sherrod Brown’s office, JD Vance’s, Marcy Kaptur’s, and Bob Latta’s and others. Our goal was to educate on the positive impacts that the MEP program has had on our organization. While we haven’t directly used many of their services, we have worked with them as a provider of automation for their clients. The visit went extremely well – We were able to discuss the positive impacts of automation within manufacturing, specifically the fact that instead of eliminating jobs, in most scenarios it will make a company more competitive, lead to better paying positions for operators, prepare us for the baby boomer retirement wave and keep the US competitive on a global scale! Jack came home having met some awesome manufacturers within the state as well as helped show the other MEP chapters around the state what we can do for their clients.  Cathy Witte, Willy's Fresh Salsa

  • We’re headed out to The International Surface Expo in Las Vegas at the end of the month to debut our Slab Caddy to the market. This is an innovative transportation and storage system that we developed for a local partner here to eliminate some serious safety and efficiency concerns during counter top fabrication. They like it so much, that they’ve urged us to show it to the market and see if there are other interested buyers. One thing we do here everyday: innovate! #automation #simpleisbest

  • Customer comes in next week! Working out the final kinks before they’re here to test functionality, safety, speed and how it will fit into their existing operations. One thing our team does exceptionally well is working with the customer to figure out how our equipment might impact upstream and downstream operations. This helps minimize unexpected hurdles after installation. #problemsolving #automation #advancedmotion

  • “We’re decoiling the tubing and then coiling it again.” Sometimes the top level description of what we’re doing sounds so simple my kids could do it! In this case, that description does not do justice to the complexity beneath the surface. This machine, at its core, is doing what is stated above, but there are nearly endless details that come into play to be able to do all that at breakneck speeds while still making quality product. Servos spinning coilers with servos and ballscrews attached, coordinated movement between 5 axis of motion at once. Ultra rigid tooling to produce rock steady product. End product off this machine will end up in your air conditioner cooling your home! #designed #builtforyou #madeintheusa

  • This next generation is smart! We had the opportunity to sit down with the Formula SAE teams from Ohio State, @formula buckeyes, and University of Toledo and were very impressed. Both teams have record membership this year and PD&B is proud to be sponsoring the two teams. In addition to traditional cold hard cash, we’ve invited them to utilize our fab and machining services to help create parts. As with a lot of educational programs, their shop equipment isn’t the latest and greatest, so if we can save them time and allow them to design better parts, we hope it can set them up for success. I was a part of the OSU team for a season and believe that there’s no better preparation for an engineering career than participating on one of these motorsport teams. #FSAE #formulabuckeyes #gorockets
